Information and Guidance
Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) is available to all students in all of the SHAPE schools.  Agreement has been reached between the SHAPE schools to ensure that provision of information, advice and guidance for careers support will:

P       Provide access to a range of providers and relevant resources
R       Respond to the needs and views of the students and their parents
I         Impartial, transparent, honest and fair advice, given, whenever possible, by qualified, recently trained staff
D       Differentiate to meet the needs of the individual and that there will be access for all regardless of race, colour, age, religion, disability and gender
E        Events supporting transition will be available at the published times during the school day

In a recent development, Surrey County Council has commissioned the employment and skills experts, Working Links, to support young people as they take steps to becoming young adults.  Working with its partner organisation U-Explore, young people in Surrey schools will be offered access to an innovative education and careers advice online service.  The system provides accurate, up-to-date information about  education, training, employment and volunteering opportunities.
Working Links will also provide additional support to Surrey students who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).  Working Links is recruiting IAG staff to work with these students on a one- to-one basis for a one year period starting in April 2012.
