The SHAPE network is pleased to advise that a number of vocationally oriented courses are available, as part of the Increased Flexibility Programme, to students in the SHAPE schools.
SHAPE prides itself on ensuring that students are well-matched to their vocational courses, and that the students are fully aware of the commitment they must make to the course of their choice.
Courses currently on offer (October 2009) are Motor Vehicle, Beauty, Hairdressing and Construction.
Prospective applicants will be interviewed by course staff, prior to any offer being made of a place on a course. Applicants who require tasters and additional support, may be offered a trial taster period prior to possible progression onto the course.
A range of courses offered by local Further Education Colleges are also available through SHAPE. These courses include:
- Catering
- Animal Care
- Landscaping
- Hairdressing
- Beauty
- Construction
- Engineering
These are usually on the basis of one full day per week spent at the College. The Colleges we use include Farnborough College of Technology, Merrist Wood and Brooklands.
If you think you would be interested in a day release course at a local College, then please discuss this possibility further with your school’s Information, Advice and Guidance Co-ordinator, or with Mrs Clelland at Collingwood.
